Warren Irving Griswold, 90 of East Longmeadow, fondly known as “Gris”, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 12. Born August 12, 1931 in Springfield, MA. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Cecelia (Healey), five children, Diane Dunn, Marybeth Kulik and husband, Edward Kulik, Ann Marie Moloney, Paul Griswold and wife Ashley (Lindwall)and Lisa Haddad and husband Steven Haddad. Thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one on the way. He is predeceased by his brother Ernest Griswold and survived by his twin sister
Elizabeth Daughtry. Warren was raised in East Longmeadow. Parents Maro and Catherine (Beardsley)Griswold. He was a member of St Michael's Church in East Longmeadow for his entire life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Warren married the love of his life, Ann Healey, in May, 1957. He treasured nothing more than having her by his side. She truly was his rock and true love. He was a proud member of the East Longmeadow volunteer fire department for 25 years. He retired as a Captain. Warren began his career in the lumber industry as a salesman with Forrest Products Lumber Co in East Longmeadow. Shortly thereafter took a sales position with Truss Engineering Corp. In 1976 he became GM and VP where he was instrumental in growing the business to the successful company it is today.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and golfing. He loved to vacation with his family at his Cape house and the chalet he built in Vermont. His favorite days were opening days of bird, deer and trout season. He treasured the memories of ski trips to Colorado and Europe with his family and close friends. Warren’s passion for life, for living life to the fullest and for always learning to master a new skill was contagious and he was happy to share this joy with whoever wanted to join him. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t tackle. Gris worked hard and he played hard. He truly was an inspiration to those who knew him. The “GRIS” we all knew will be missed. We know he is now with all his friends and family who have predeceased him enjoying a day afield!
The Griswold family would like to thank Warren’s dedicated caregivers from Murphy Avis at Home Care for their compassionate care during the final weeks of his life. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. FAMILY AND FRIENDS MAY MEET FOR WARREN’S FUNERAL MASS ON MONDAY, JANUARY 24th at 10:30 AM IN ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH, 128 MAPLE ST., EAST LONGMEADOW. Burial will follow in Baptist Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
