Longtime East Longmeadow resident Theresa “Terry” Oswald, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in New York City, she and her sister grew up in the care of her beloved mother, an aunt and an uncle, all of whom predeceased her.
Terry, who worked as a banker prior to having children, returned to that profession years later and eventually became a Vice-President of Operations for Chase Bank. It was while working in banking that Terry began friendships that lasted the rest of her life, especially with Lucille Bartee who she treasured as family and who was with her to the end.
When Terry retired she moved to her much loved Cape Cod where she “adopted” Rick and Cheryll Pidgeon as additional family members. When Terry made her final move to East Longmeadow she became one of the Brownstone ladies and truly valued the friendships she made there. The family would like to thank “the girls,” Mary, Peggy, Phyllis, Kathleen and the others, but especially Carol Lichwala who showed the true meaning of friendship this past year.
Terry is survived by her son, John Oswald of Anderson, California, daughter, Lorretta Dukart of Portland, Oregon, and daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Peter Bose of Aiken, South Carolina.
Per her request there will be no services. Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Road, Wilbraham is in charge of the arrangements.
