Obituary

Simone Newton, 98, died peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022. Born in Springfield, she was a longtime Wilbraham resident. Simone was a beloved Music Teacher in the Wilbraham schools for over 10 years until her retirement. A faithful communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church, she was an active member of the adult choir for many years. Simone enjoyed gardening and spending time by the lake at the family cottage in Readfield, ME. She was predeceased by her husband Tyler T. Newton, her daughter Janice Agen and her brothers; George, Leo and Rene. Simone will be sadly missed by her children; Kenneth Newton and his wife Paulette of Manchester, CT, Thomas Newton and his wife Debbie of Royal Palm Beach, FL and William Newton and his wife Brenda of Monson, sisters; Theresa Purcell of Holyoke, Rita LaRiviere of Granby and Helen Brooks of Athol, and many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Simone’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:30 AM at St. Cecilia Church. An hour of visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will follow the Mass in Woodland Dell Cemetery, Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
