Sally Jeanne (Johnson) Roberts, 83, passed away peacefully on March 15,2021, surrounded by the love of her family. Sally was born October 18,1937 to the late Roger E. and Jeanne (Pomalaski) Johnson. She was a 1955 graduate of the High School of Commerce and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. A busy mom, cheerleader and scorekeeper, Sally returned to work while her children were young. Always a hard worker, Sally worked concessions at the Springfield Civic Center while working full-time for the Town of Longmeadow. After leaving the Town Hall, she began working nights, weekends and holidays for Big Y Loss Prevention so that she could do what she loved the most - be with her grandchildren.
Nanny & G-Sal, as she was lovingly known, did her very best to attend every school function, recital, swim meet, soccer and baseball game often splitting time at multiple games just to catch a glimpse of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and to cheer them on. She enjoyed neighborhood gatherings, holidays, bowling, marbles, cribbage, reading and spreading cheer with a kind note and thoughtful card. But most of all she loved spending time with her family making memories at home, Cape Cod, Maine, Vermont and Montana.
Sally leaves to cherish her memory, her partner of 37 years, William "Bill" Paris, her daughter, Peri Jacques of East Longmeadow, her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Donna of Wilbraham, former son-in-law Jeff Laux, the loves of her life – grandchildren; Cali (Tony), Jordan, Jake, Sam & Noah, great grandchildren; Jackson, Ella and Dylan and step grandchildren; Billy Jacques and Samantha Jacques Enright. She also leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Judy & Gene Parker of East Longmeadow, many loving nieces, nephews, including her loving Maine family, and special cousins Jim Gillan of Montana, Joe Gillan of Florida and Joci Gillan also of Florida. In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brother & sister-in-law, Roger "Sonny" & Betty Johnson, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Fred & Sheila Brown and a granddaughter, Gabrielle Roberts. Family and friends may gather to celebrate Sally’s Life on Saturday, March 20th at 3:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will precede the Service on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
