Raymond Herbert Shankel, 93, died on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Worcester to the late Raymond Harold and Mary (Rodack) Shankel, he served proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Ray was a licensed electrician and owned Yankee Electric Supply Co. in Springfield. Ray will be missed by his wife of 66 years Helen (Andry) Shankel, their two daughters; Wendy Evans and Lisa Quackenbush, 6 grandchildren; Daniel, Christopher, Berit, Peter, John and Mary and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his sister May Davis. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Rd., Hampden. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Western MA, 97 North Hatfield Rd., Hatfield, MA 01038 or to the Evans Family Scholarship for Environmental Conservation at the University of MA, 143 Hicks Way, Amherst, MA 01003.
