Nancy Louise Rogers, 92, died peacefully on the morning of Friday, April 1, 2022 in her home at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing surrounded by her children. Born in Middlebury, VT on March 26, 1930 to the late Frederick Tomkins Townley and Anna Francis Smith, she grew up and raised her family in Maryland and Massachusetts. After working at Ralph Jordan Fabrics she moved on to Digital Equipment Corporation for many years before she and her husband retired to North Carolina. Passionate and talented at crafting and quilting, Nancy made countless quilts for those in need, family and friends. She was active in Missionary Sewing providing quilts for the Seamen's Aid Society and the Quilts of Valor Foundation, distributing to veterans and military hospitals all over the world. Her faith was paramount and was an active participant, volunteer and teacher at churches in Massachusetts and North Carolina. She expressed her love of music in choruses, church choirs and hand bell ensembles, and her deep love of animals through many beloved pets. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Charles “Bud” Rogers, her brother David Effingham Townley and her nephew David Everett Townley. She is survived by her children; Linda Sue Rogers (David Hutton), Karen Wood Rogers (Ken Wheeler) and David Blake Rogers (Deborah Scott), three grandchildren; Courtney Rogers (Chris Tomai), Briana Rogers (Frank Visciano) and Ryan DeVarennes (Edouard DeVarennes), five great grandchildren; Edouard “Teddy” and Oliver DeVarennes, Lucy and Jude Visciano and Olivia Tomai, niece, Ann Townley Mock and her husband’s nephew Willard Mellott. Nancy’s Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, May 14th at 1 PM at Evangelical Covenant Church, 915 Plumtree Rd., Springfield.
