Mary Ann Bradstreet, 86, passed away May 20, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield MA. She was born on April 22, 1934 in Jackson, Michigan to Thomas and Gertrude Whitikar Dolan. She grew up in Springfield, MA with her father and her uncle and aunt, Dave and Molly Mitchell. She graduated from Classical High School in 1951, and the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) in 1955. She was married to Neal A. Bradstreet in August of 1955. While home when the children were young, she earned a Masters Degree in Reading Education from American International College. She worked as a Special Education Teacher in the Stafford Springs, CT school system for 25 years. Mary Ann was a member of St. Michael’s parish in East Longmeadow.
For over two decades, Mary Ann supported all five children in their academic, athletic, social, and religious activities. She enjoyed spending time in Maine taking the kids to local beaches, having picnics, and later kayaking. Mary Ann also liked reading, completing the daily crossword puzzle and watching her daily TV show, The View.
Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Thomas (Deborah), David, Neal, Richard (Stephanie) and daughter Tricia (Chad) Remley; and her cousin MaryAnn Mitchell. Her grandchildren Michael, Kellianna, and Shawn Bradstreet, David (Jessica) and Aaron (Nichole) Wilber, and Kate, Eileen, and James Remley. Great grandchildren Cierra, Ellayna, Austin, Rory, Peyton, Aaron, Camryn, Jaden, Madison, and Faelinn Wilber.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Neal, in 1984 who was a teacher in the Springfield, MA school system for over 25 years. Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham is in charge of the arrangements.
A private service will be held on Friday at 12 Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to East Longmeadow Public Library, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
