Jerald C. Stoeber, 86, died peacefully on May 7, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Adams, MA to the late Lester and Mae (O’Halloran) Stoeber, he was a graduate of American International College. After graduation, Jerry entered the US Marine Corps and was released from active duty after three years as a First Lieutenant. He remained in the Active Reserves for 22 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jerry worked at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. During his time at Mass Mutual, he earned an MBA from Western New England University, and held various executive positions in the Group Life & Health and Group Pension divisions. Jerry enjoyed gardening, travel, hiking, biking and skiing, taking many ski trips to Colorado and Utah, almost always accompanied by his wife Pat and frequently with their grandchildren. He also enjoyed many local ski areas in Western MA and VT. Jerry was a member of the National Ski Patrol and the Mt. Tom Ski Patrol. An avid runner, Jerry ran the New York City marathon, the Marine Corps. Marathon and the Philadelphia Distance Run and many local races. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia A. (Ferris) Stoeber, their daughter Joanna C. Stoeber of Ludlow, three cherished grandchildren; Matthew Ryan of Enfield, CT, Maura Ryan, RN of Bloomfield, CT and Nicholas St. Pierre and his fiancé Emma Garcia of Ludlow and step grandchild Brandon Casey of New Hartford, CT. Jerry was predeceased by daughters; Lynn Midghall and Susan Ryan. The family would like to thank the Wilbraham Fire Department for their wonderful help and also Beacon Hospice for their special help during his final days. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Jerry’s Funeral Mass on Friday at 10AM at the Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. Burial with full US Marine Honors will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield.
