Obituary

Longtime Wilbraham resident George F. Allen, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Worcester to the late George and Helen (Dolan) Allen, he was a Cum Laude graduate of College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and earned a Master’s Degree from Western New England University. George was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was honored as the first recipient of the Veteran of the Year Award in 2018 by the Town of Wilbraham. George worked at Lego in Enfield, CT as Production Manager for many years until his retirement. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Dorothy (Grady) Allen, their two sons; Stephen Allen of Austin, TX and Paul Allen and his wife Gail of Hollis, NH, four devoted grandsons; Bryan, Gregory, his wife Lauren, Daniel and Gary and two cherished great granddaughters; Madison and Maya. In addition to his parents, George was also predeceased by his daughter Linda Gaudette, brother James Allen and grandson Kevin Gaudette. Family and friends may meet for George’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 29th at 12:00 Noon at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 PM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilbraham Senior Center Building Fund, 45 Post Office Park, Wilbraham, MA 01095.
