Donald L. Wolford, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Hartford, CT on September 7, 1928 to the late Dyson and Alice (Greenland) Wolford, he graduated from Wethersfield High School, Class of 1946 and attended Trinity College on a track scholarship, graduating with a degree in Engineering. Don was recognized by the Wethersfield Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in soccer and track. Don served in the Army, stationed in Japan at Tokyo Master General as a safety director. He later worked as an engineer for Aetna Life & Casualty Co. for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1987. A longtime Wilbraham resident, Don was a member of Grace Union Church and was active as a Shriner. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanne (Hohn) Wolford in 2012. He will be sadly missed by his four children; Richard L. Wolford of Chicopee, John A. Wolford and wife Monique of MO, Diane Garvey of Wilbraham and Alison Reddington and husband Kevin of Monson, five cherished grandchildren; Daniel Wolford and his wife Claudia, Amanda (Wolford) Johnston and her husband Sean, Timothy Reddington and his partner Amanda, Melinda Reddington and Sean Garvey and a great granddaughter due in the Spring. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Don’s Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
