Obituary

Charles E. McCarthy, 80, died peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Daniel and Kathryn (Burke) McCarthy. Charlie worked as an Industrial Supply Salesman for many area companies until his retirement. Charlie also retired from Lowe’s in 2007, where he worked in the Hardware Dept. A faithful communicant and Altar Server at St. Cecilia Church, he also volunteered for church cleaning and Senior Connection Dinners. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Maureen (Phaneuf) McCarthy, their two children; Susan Wilhite and her husband Donald of New London, WI and Sharon Boucher and her husband John of Warren, MA, sister Elizabeth McCarthy of Ludlow, five cherished grandchildren; Anthony, Conner, Riley, Ryan and Carly and great granddaughter Berkley Rose. Charlie was a good, kind and strong man, who was always there to help his family, friends and neighbors in any way he could. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Charlie’s Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church. Burial will be held privately in St. Aloysius Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095 or to the charity of one’s choice.
