Catherine Ann (Daley) Joyce

March 9, 1936 ~ February 26, 2021 (age 84)

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Catherine Ann Joyce.  Catherine passed away on February 26, 2021 surrounded by the comfort and love of her family.  Born in Boston, raised in Quincy, Catherine was the daughter of the late Anna V. Daley and John F. Daley.

Catherine began her career at New England Telephone in Boston.  Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Stephen Joyce of Dorchester.  They were married in 1960 and relocated from the “617” to the “413”.  First living in Springfield, they eventually settled in Wilbraham with summers in Scituate, MA. Catherine and Stephen welcomed and raised seven children together and were rooted into the fabric of the Wilbraham and Scituate communities, building life-long friendships.

While Catherine was a woman of many talents, her joy was her family. She was the greatest fan and cheerleader in all arenas. In her later years, Catherine most enjoyed visiting her children, and grandchildren. Known as “Nanny Joyce” to all with whom she shared company, her memory will forever be of a warm smile, easy laugh, grace, kindness, and immeasurable love.

Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen Joyce in 1989. She leaves behind her children: Mark (Trish) Joyce of Boston, MA; Michael (Jane) Joyce of Hingham, MA; Stephen (Kate) Joyce of Center Valley, PA; James (Moira) Joyce of Longmeadow, MA; Thomas (Kristin) Joyce of Longmeadow, MA; Kathryn (Brian) Decelles of Hingham, MA and John (Susanne) Joyce of Dedham, MA.  Dear sister of the late John Daley of Weymouth, MA, Daniel Daley of Attleboro, MA and the late Mary McWha.  Proud grandmother of 22 grandchildren: Madeline, Grace and Brian Decelles, Caitlin (Brett) Adamczyk, Kristin, Mark (Gemma), Devin, Christopher (Courtney), Maureen, Brendan, Lauren, Brooke, Stephen, Caroline, Sydney, Rhyan, Connor, Allison, Reagan, Callie, Nolan, and Gavin Joyce.  Also, Great Grandmother to Griffin and Liam Adamczyk and many loving nieces and nephews.

The constant care and support devoted by our sister Kathryn and her daughters Maddie and Grace brought great comfort to Nanny and our family in her final years.
