Longtime Wilbraham resident, Andrew “Andy” F. Sears, 74, died on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Born in Boston on December 17, 1946, to the late Otto and Mary (Drag) Sears, he grew up near Newport, RI. He was a 1964 graduate of Portsmouth Abbey High School in RI and earned an Associate Degree from Villanova University in 1966. Andrew enjoyed spending time fishing in Southern Rhode Island as a longtime member of the Quonochontaug beach community and the lakes and rivers of the Rangeley Lakes region of Maine, where he was a member of the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust. Andrew was an accomplished independent businessman, retiring as President of New England Lumber Specialties in West Springfield. He instilled a love of music with his sons and was there when Bob Dylan went electric. Along with his beloved wife Elizabeth “Betsy” (Oleksak) Sears, who predeceased him in 2020, Andrew raised his family in Wilbraham and was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church. He will be sadly missed by his two devoted sons; Andrew F. Sears, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Dobbs Ferry, NY and James H. Sears and his wife Sarah of Wilbraham, his sister Katherine and brother Michael, both of Portsmouth, RI, four cherished grandchildren; Evelyn, John, Oskar and Winifred as well as a niece and nephews. Funeral Services to celebrate the life and memory of Andrew as well as his wife Elizabeth will begin with calling hours on Sunday, September 19th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 9-9:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church. Burial will follow in Woodland Dell Cemetery, Wilbraham.
