Agnes M. (Dufault) Dion, 99, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Born in Springfield to the late Arthur and Agnes (Bridgett) Dufault, she was a proud US Navy Veteran of WWII. Agnes served in the US Navy WAVES, honorably discharged as a Parachute Rigger Second Class in 1945. She was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater Ribbon. A graduate of Classical High School, Agnes worked for the Western Union Telegraph Office in Springfield and was one of the first women to work in the electrical wiring department at Van Norman Tool Co. A lifelong, faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow, Agnes was a member of their Catholic Women’s Club, she belonged to the Flour Pin Bowling League and the Franconia Nine Hole Women’s golf league. She was a member of the Pioneer Valley Unit #81 US Navy WAVES and was a charter member of the EL Garden Club. Agnes was predeceased by her husband of 68 years John F. Dion, her son John F. Dion, Jr., sister Ann Norman and son in law James Daley. She is survived by her children; Rosemary A. Daley of West Simsbury, CT, Maryann A. Spillane and her husband Dennis of Westwood, MA and Christopher Dion and his wife Nora of East Longmeadow, daughter in law Terry Dion, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her caregiver Elaine Brown. Agnes’s Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 PM at St. Michael’s Church. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial with full Military Honors will follow the Mass in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
