William R. Broadbent, 83, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ludlow to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Hughes) Broadbent, he was a proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War. William retired as a Lieutenant from the Wilbraham Fire Department after 20 years of service. He served for many years as President of the Uniformed Firefighters of Wilbraham Local 1847. A communicant of St. Cecilia�s Church, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans, the VFW in Hampden, American Legion of Wilbraham, Ludlow Elks, and Baystate Submarine Veterans. William is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lorraine (LaVallee) Broadbent, four loving children: Jody Wooten and her husband Jon of Oak Harbor, WA, Albert F. Broadbent of Gulfport, FL, Laurie Broadbent of Wilbraham, and Linda Raya and her husband Jaime of Panama City, FL, nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Christian, Jesse, Chaz, Kaitlyn, Quade, TJ, Mike, and Carlos, and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, April 17th from 4:00 � 7:00pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by Burial with Military Honors at 2:00pm at MA Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
