William A. Borden

William A. Borden, 51, died peacefully at home after a brief illness on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Born in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Wayne D. Borden and Gertrude (Mullen) Borden DeCosmo of Hampden. Bill grew up in East Longmeadow and attended schools in town prior to moving to Hampden and later to Springfield. He worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service for a number of years. Bill loved playing the guitar, fishing, visiting the ocean and lakes, and spending time with close friends and family. Holidays were always his favorite time of year. In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his longtime love, Cathy Paschetto of East Longmeadow, his three loving sisters Anne-Marie Villamaino and her husband Vincent of Hampden, Susan White and her husband Jack of West Stafford, CT and Nancy Cokotis and her husband Peter of East Longmeadow; step father Benedetto DeCosmo of Hampden. He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews; Nicholas Villamaino of Carpi, Italy, Timothy and Katie Villamaino of Hampden, Sarah Dalton of Salem, CT, Emily White of Vernon, CT, Jennifer Cokotis of Alexandria, VA, Julie Cokotis of Las Vegas, NV, his great nieces Tea Villamaino, Kailey and Aubrey Dalton and Mia White, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins whom he cherished. Bill was also predeceased by his brother Thomas C. Borden. Bill�s Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary�s Church, 27 Somers Rd, Hampden followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will precede the Mass on Tuesday from 9:00 � 11:00 am at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. The family wishes to acknowledge the many acts of kindness from volunteers at UNICO and Lighthouse and for making Bill's life brighter.
