Willard Wilcox “Bill” Boss, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, at home. Bill was born, at home, on November 13, 1933, in Ware, MA. He was the youngest of six sons born to the late Gilbert H. and Alice M. (Wilcox) Boss. The family moved from Ware to Springfield in 1939, where Bill’s dad owned and operated an independent auto and truck repair business. Bill graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School and subsequent engineering courses from his employers; Chrysler Corp., Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Detroit Ball Bearing Co. (InVetech Corp.) and Applied Industrial Technologies. His employment required him to live in Utica, NY, Dallas, TX, Detroit, MI and Toledo, OH. Upon his retirement, he returned to reside in Longmeadow, MA. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Esoteric Lodge A.M. & F.M., a Knights Templar of the Morningstar chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and a member of the Melha Shriners Director Staff prior to The Vintage Auto unit to which he belonged for many years.

Bill was predeceased by his wife Susan (Butterick) Boss, brothers; Ralph, Everett, Charles, Gilbert “Harold” and Kenneth. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his daughters; Vicki L. Boss-Nunez of Westfield, W. Lynn Boss-Rowinsky (Gerry) of Methuen, and his life partner Phyllis Laplante of Wilbraham, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. At Bill’s request, burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Ware, MA.
