Warren Douglas Hamilton, 90, passed away February 17,
2025, at Lifecare of Wilbraham. He was born in New York City, February
21, 1934, the son of the late William J. and Dorothy H. (Curtis) Hamilton. He was only a few days away from his 91st birthday, although he would admit he was already an old fart. After graduating from Queens College, Warren joined the Air Force and flew helicopters stateside during the Vietnam War. He worked at various companies, starting with insurance sales before settling in at J.C. Tarbell Associates, Inc and founding LM76 Inc., both located in East Longmeadow, MA. Warren retired in Willington, CT at 60 to pursue his numerous hobbies. He taught himself fine furniture making and set up a woodshop at home. There was no project too big or too small, and both family and friends were the lucky recipients of dining room tables, beds, dressers, and hutches. Warren had a lifelong love of the ocean and often had a sailboat or motorboat. He loved fishing, traveling, vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, hunting, skiing, reading, and learning. He would play backgammon and cribbage despite his repeated losses to family members. He sang in a 50’s quartet and played the ukulele and guitar. Most of all he loved socializing with anyone of any age. He leaves behind his wife, Avis (Churchill) Hamilton of Wilbraham, his children, Scott, Christy and Wendy and their spouses Kimberley Hamilton, Dan McNamara and James Andrus, along with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves his stepson John Tarbell (fondly referred to as the 4th Hamilton), his wife Lesley and their children. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Charles (Jim) Koch, with whom he was very close and shared numerous interests, and his brother, Curtis Wesley Hamilton. In lieu of a Viking funeral, military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at the Mass Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
