Walter J. Maziarz, 87, died peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow to the late John and Mary (Strycharz) Maziarz, he was a 50 year resident of Wilbraham.
Walter was a 1956 graduate of Cathedral High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis. After serving his country, he went on to work as a machine assembler and shop foreman at Ouellette Machinery for 25 years, and later a machinist at Numeric Machining where he retired thereafter. Walter enjoyed cars, his Bills, Sox and Celtics, bowling, Polish music and dancing, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, building everything from scratch, and especially spending time with his sweetheart Patricia.
In addition to his parents, Walter was also predeceased by his brother John Maziarz and his wife Frances. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 57 years Patricia (Downer) Maziarz, their son Michael Maziarz and his wife Deanna of Wilbraham and two cherished grandchildren; Cameron and Caroline Maziarz. Walter also leaves behind his sister-in-law Dorothy Stejna and her husband Robert and 17 nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Dr. Farooqui and Mary at Sister Caritas, and to the Harmony Hospice team and his dedicated compassionate nurse Cynthia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9th from 5-8PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Walter’s Funeral will be Wednesday at 9AM from Wilbraham Funeral Home to a Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial contributions in Walter’s name may be made to the Sister Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center, 271 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
