Former Wilbraham resident, Walter C. Dansereau, 92, died peacefully on September 6, 2023, at his home at East Village Place in East Longmeadow. Born in Warren, MA to the late Herman A. Dansereau and Elizabeth Blaire, he was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War. Walter began working for Radding Signs right out of Trade School in 1948. He was employed there for 57 years before starting his own Sign Company. He retired at the age of 70 and began to create stained glass. Walter won First Place at the East Village Place art contest this past winter. He had a great sense of humor and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. A few employees at East Village Place would visit his apartment for their daily dose of sarcasm. Besides stained glass, Walter loved fishing, walking the beach and picking blueberries on the family farm at the Vineyard.
In addition to his parents, Walter was also predeceased by his wife Ann (Horton) Dansereau in 2022, as well as his brother Herman and sisters Theresa and Carol. Walter will be sadly missed by his two daughters; Lynn Murray (Donald) of VT and Beth Reed (Robert Canterbury) of Wilbraham, three grandchildren; Samantha Skiba (Adam) of Ludlow, Winslow Reed (Chrissy) of Longmeadow and Christy Martineau (Joshua) of VT, four great grandsons; Aidan, Devyn, Cameron and Calvin and three step children; Karl, Kim and Kurt Zinnack. He was also adored by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may meet for Walter’s Committal Service with Military Honors on Monday, September 18th at 11:00 AM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
