Veronica Meschke

Veronica “Ronnie” Meschke, 82, passed away peacefully at Harmony House in Chicopee, MA. She was born in Hartford, CT and lived there until the family moved to Springfield in 1955. Ronnie attended Cathedral High School and went on to get her teaching degree from the former Westfield State Teacher’s College. She taught Kindergarten, which she loved, for 35 years, mostly at Meadow Brook Elementary School. After retirement she worked as a Page and volunteer at the Wilbraham Public Library for about 10 years. She always loved to travel and visited several countries including; Egypt, Iceland, England, Ireland and others. At home, she loved reading and feeding the birds. She also liked to make pickles, grape juice and jelly. Ronnie was a member of the Red Hat Society for many years and she loved spending time with family and visiting her nieces. She is survived by her two brothers; Carl Meschke and his wife Helen and Harold Meschke and his late wife Donna. She is also survived by her niece Maureen and her husband Brian Dixon, their two daughters; Colleen and Kelly, cousins; Elaine Lefrancois, Mary Losty and her husband Tom, David Brayton and his wife Donna and longtime friend Hatty Dawson, that helped Ronnie and made it possible for her to live at home as long as possible. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th from 9-10AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Veronica’s Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, followed by burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made St. Elizabeth’s Church, 181 Hubbard St., Ludlow, MA 01056.
