Thomas P. Laurino

Thomas P. Laurino, a Wilbraham native, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 21,1937 to the late Thomas E. and Helen (Wierciak) Laurino, he went to Springfield Technical High School and Western New England University, earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering and his MBA. Tom was a 33 year Veteran of the MA Army National Guard. He received his commission as an officer graduating from the MA Military Academy, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He became the Battalion Commander for three years each at the 1-181 IN in Worcester and the 2-104IN in Chicopee. He was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal but his greatest reward was to serve his country. His work career included Manager of Industrial Engineering at American Bosch and Manager of Plant Engineering at Milton Bradley. For 25 years he was employed by Bielomatik of Neuffen, Germany. As Senior Vice President, he was the North American representative for marketing and sales of paper converting equipment supporting school supply and the graphic arts industry. He retired in 2007. Tom was a 25 year member of the Ludlow Elks where he chaired many social events and was named Italian Elk of the year. Tom enjoyed golf, especially family golf matches with his son Tommy and grandsons Nick and Cam Kratovil, and was a 60 year member of Ludlow Country Club. He was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia Church. Tom and Loretta watched the UCONN Women’s basketball team since the days of Lobo. He enjoyed Notre Dame football, the NY Yankees and the New England Patriots. Tom was all about family, insuring everyone was properly educated to enjoy a good quality of life. Tom loved spending time with friends in Newport or at the Cape house, fishing the canal for stripers or family meals where daughter Jackie would prepare many gourmet meals. These family meals always included healthy discussions, good wine and multiple desserts. Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years Loretta (Savoia) Laurino and his children; Jackie Kratovil (Gary) and Thomas Laurino (Patti), grandchildren; Nicholas (Georgianna) and Cameron Kratovil and Jordyn and Payton Laurino, sister Rosemary Castonguay (Steve) and many nieces and nephews. Tom’s funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
