Early in the quiet hours of April 18, Thomas Tommy Korman passed peacefully from this world with his loving family and friends at his side. A man who dedicated his life to the task of serving others, he was a member of the Hampden County Sheriffs Department for 33 years. During his career, he assumed roles that progressed from guard at the York Street Jail to Lieutenant at the Hampden County Correctional Center. Regardless of his position, dedication was his motto. Tommy was also a proud father of sons Andrew and Nickolas. He took great pride in their accomplishments and always supported their individual needs and desires. Tommy always was available to provide words of wisdom and support whenever needed. When away from the daily routines that encompass all lives, Tommy always found moments to connect with his friends and colleagues. Whether it was enjoying a laugh at the Boyle or arguing over 18 holes, Tom always placed his friends and family at the forefront. In his early days, he resided in Springfield. Tom attended Cathedral High School and later earned a degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University. Tom was predeceased by his parents Paul and Catherine (Hurley) Korman. His departing will surely create a void in the lives that he touched while here on Earth. For those wishing to pay their respects, there will be calling hours from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday, April 30 at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. A Mass celebrating Tommys life will be held on Friday, May 1st at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Rd., Springfield. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
