Obituary
Thomas Allen Jones, son of the late Griffith and Beatrice (Heavlow) Jones, died peacefully on October 5, 2019 at the age of 80. Thomas was born on July 27, 1939 in Upland, PA and lived in Linwood, Wallingford, Media, and Mt. Joy, PA. He attended Chichester schools in Boothwyn, PA and graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois with a degree in Theology and a minor in English. Thomas was a part-time pastor of Crum Lynn Baptist Church for 3 years and taught English at Chichester Junior High School for many years before retiring.
Thomas enjoyed spending time in Rehoboth Beach, DE with friends and spoke fondly of his trip to Europe with his friend, Craig Dunlap. Thomas loved teaching, encouraging his students to do their best academically. He had a loving, gentle, kind, and fun spirit. He liked making jokes, and getting others to laugh. Thomas enjoyed playing the piano, listening to classical music, and going to see theater productions. He also loved singing. In May, 1964, he married the late Nancy Downs. They sang in a quintet accompanied by two friends and his sister-in-law, Dolores Hall. The group produced a record entitled, “Jes Friends”.
Thomas was the brother of the late David Jones. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Georgianna Jones of Jensen Beach, FL. Furthermore, he is survived by his nieces and nephews: Sheri and Michael Dee of New Fairfield, CT, Melanie Kirchner of South Carolina, Valerie and Ron Chivinski of Torrington, CT, Krissy Louderback of Port St. Lucie, FL, Sherry and Steve Hall and Nancy and Will Guerra of Troy, Michigan. Additionally, he is survived by great nieces and nephews: Nathaniel and Rachel Dee, Cody and Joshua Chivinski, and Danielle Louderback. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.
