Theresa S. (Smith) Mcgrath

Theresa S. (Smith) McGrath, 87, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Springfield to the late Philip and Blanche (Roulier) Smith. Theresa (Terry) worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Springfield School Dept. and was a communicant of St. Michael�s Church. Theresa led an active life, enjoying her family, faith, career and retirement. She especially enjoyed travel, x-country skiing, swimming and in her later years many puzzles! Her husband, John P. McGrath predeceased Theresa in 2009. She is survived by her sons; James McGrath and wife Stephanie of Travelers Rest, SC, Timothy McGrath and wife Lorraine of Truro, Nova Scotia, Brian McGrath of Newark, NJ and Patrick McGrath and wife Susan of Westfield, MA.; grandchildren James Jr. (son of James and Stephanie), Alaina and Justin (children of Timothy and Lorraine) and Ashley and Jay (children of Patrick and Susan); great grandchildren Conner and Harper (sons of James Jr. and Amanda) and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Rita LaPerle living in East Longmeadow and was predeceased by her sister Cecile (Cele) Lull, and brothers Paul, Richard, Roger and Theodore (Ted) Smith. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19th from 4:00 � 7:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Theresa�s Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Michael�s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., 54C Wayside Ave., West Springfield, MA 01089. The family sincerely thanks the staff and residents of East Village Place for always being there for Theresa and making her later years so enjoyable providing many activities, care and support.
