Stella A. Warner

Stella (Anderson) Warner, 108, died peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Baystate Wing Hospital. Born in Springfield, she was daughter of the late Oscar and Esther (Liljestrom) Anderson.
Stella led a long and interesting life. Born in 1916, she lived through two World Wars and two pandemics. She lived to be the oldest graduate from Technical High School in Springfield, graduating in 1935. She and her husband Ralph were active members at the First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow, where they raised their family. Upon retirement, they sold the house and took off in their motor home in search of the perfect community to spend their retirement years. For the next 23 years, they traveled to every US state and found so many special places that they were unable to settle on just one. Another goal was to find and climb the highest point in every state, from the highest sand dune in Rhode Island to the 14,000 foot peaks in California and Colorado. Ralph drove the camper to a hospital in Mississippi where he had his 9th bypass surgery and died. Stella came back to MA and lived at Wellington at Springfield and continued taking trips in her daughter’s motor home. After her 100th birthday, Stella traveled to Panama and Costa Rica, Tennessee, Arizona and Colorado. When asked how she managed to live so long she would say, “Always have something to look forward to.”
Stella is survived by her two devoted children; Richard S. Warner of Carbondale, CO and Sonya Vickers of Wilbraham, three cherished grandchildren; Elizabeth, Erika and Ian and 9 adored great grandchildren; Roman, Olympia, Sibyl, Courtney, Hannah, Ryan, Harrison, Asher and Sylvia.
Family and friends may gather for Stella’s Funeral Service on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
