Sorn Kim Peou, 87, passed peacefully on March 5th at home, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, he was a former Lieutenant in the Cambodian Navy and machine mechanic at Reynolds Manufacturing Company.
In 1975, with his wife and their three young daughters, Sorn came to the US as a refugee, fleeing the impending Cambodian genocide.
Throughout his life, Sorn remained a devoted husband and father. He took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He was an eternal optimist, comedian, movie buff, especially 3D movies, and loved music and dancing. He was kind, loving, generous, gentle, sweet, humble and genuine and truly appreciated the little things in life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Chan (Kiv) Peou, their three devoted daughters; Lakhana Peou (Phuong Mai Pham) of Ludlow, Chenda Raffaele (Michael) of Hampden and Charya Peou (James Amblo) of Marblehead and three cherished grandchildren; Sabrina and William Raffaele and Odessa Amblo. A private family gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or online at
