Obituary
Shirley May Dashnaw, 92, a longtime resident of Longmeadow MA, passed away May 17, 2021. During her final years she resided at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham. She was born in Brattleboro VT on Sept. 4, 1928 to the late Edward J. Lavelle, Sr., and Faith Heald Lavelle.
Shirley worked for many years at New England Telephone and also the former Northeast Savings Bank. Shirley was a creative and eclectic personality. A voracious reader, she typically was reading 4 books at a time. She loved all animals, especially cats, and was known to take in strays frequently. In addition, she enjoyed operas, oil painting, and studying Egypt. She also loved writing and journaling. Shirley had many dear and lifelong friends; among them were; Barbara, Norma, Aleene, Agnes, and Carol. They were known to spend many afternoons together at local restaurants, enjoying their meals, reminiscing, and telling stories, and having many good laughs.
Shirley was predeceased by her longtime companion Robert Wruck, her brother Edward Lavelle Jr., and her sister-in-law Florence Lavelle. She leaves her son Michael Dashnaw, her nephew Peter Lavelle and his wife Lynn, and her niece Donna Pevay. All services are private and at the convenience of the family.
