Ruby McKay,nee Tater, was born on Feb. 14, 1935. Ruby passed away on Dec 8th surrounded by her children, Jennifer and Natasha, and her grandchildren Jillian, Alexandra and Liam. She was a longtime Wilbraham resident who loved gardening and watching the birds in her garden. Ruby enjoyed tending to her lot in the Wilbraham Community Garden for years. Her favorite flowers were Gladiolas, Stargazer Lillies and Bird of Paradise. She was a skilled seamstress as well as an enthusiastic cook who loved to incorporate exotic spices into her dishes. Ruby loved Elvis with a passion. Her favorite songs were Blue Hawaii and I Can’t Help Falling in Love. Later in life, she became a big tennis fan and spent many hours watching it on TV. Ruby was the third child born to the late Wilfred Tater and Rosetta Williams. She grew up in Clarendon, Jamaica W.I. then spent her young life in Kingston until she immigrated to New York in 1964. Ruby attended Business School and worked for an insurance underwriter. Later she obtained her Real Estate License where she found her true calling. Ruby was considered the matriarch of the family. She was instrumental in bringing her siblings and their families to the United States and assisting them in obtaining their US citizenship. Ruby was predeceased by her ex-husband Lloyd, and her siblings Cyril, Solomon, Joyce, Adassa and Percival. She is also survived by her other siblings Icilda, Adolphus, Trevor and Stanley along with many nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held SAT 10 AM in St. Cecilia’s Church. Main St., Wilb. Entombment will follow in the Most Holy Redeemer Chapel Mausoleum in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., Spfld. Calling Hours will be held FRIDAY from 4 to 7 PM at the WILBRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, 2551 BOSTON RD., WILBRAHAM.
