Obituary
Longtime Wilbraham resident, Ronald C. Von Flatern, 85, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Woonsocket, RI to the late Leonard and Margaret (Lebel) Von Flatern, he was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean Era. Ron was a contract work inspector for the former New England Telephone Co. for 45 years until his retirement. He was a faithful communicant of St. Cecilia Church, an honorary life member and financial officer of the American Legion, Post 286 in Wilbraham, coached Wilbraham Suburban Footbal League and was a member of the Wilbraham Lion’s Club. Ron leaves his beloved wife of 64 years Olga (Tetreault) Von Flatern, sons: Ronald C. Von Flatern, Jr. and his wife Mary, Neil F. Von Flatern and his wife Gina, daughters: Debra Von Flatern Purdy and her husband Robert, Susan Granahan and her husband Daniel and Sharon Allen, sisters: Eileen Sheehan, Frances Gay “Mickey” Alberici and Lea Read, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard F. Von Flatern, Jr. Family and friends may meet for Ron’s Memorial Mass on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wilbraham Ambulance Fund, c/o Wilbraham Fire Dept., 2770 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
