Obituary
Rodney Moore Riker, Jr., 86, died peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Born in Mineola, NY, to the late Rodney Sr. and Muriel (Wood) Riker, he graduated from Duke University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  He also received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Western New England University. Rod proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, from 1955-1957.

Rod held several positions in Springfield area companies including Worthington, Easco Hand Tools Inc., and Smith and Wesson. Rod loved the ocean and spent many summer vacations with family on Cape Cod.  He was also a model airplane enthusiast and for many years enjoyed getting together with friends on Saturday mornings to fly airplanes.

He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Springfield where he served as usher and later head usher for 40 years. He was also a longtime member of the Wilbraham-Hampden Rotary Club.

Rod was predeceased by his wife Beth (Dunham) of 48 years. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Margaret Butler and her husband James Butler of Spicewood, TX; Nancy MacDonald and her husband John MacDonald of East Amherst, NY; and brother James Riker and his wife Fran Riker of Newtown Square, PA. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, Abigail and Cameron, and four great grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Austin and Sophie. Rod leaves his wife of 14 years, Ann Baker-Riker, and her family, including 2 children and 8 grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at JGS Lifecare, Longmeadow and Spectrum Hospice for their loving care these past two months.

A Memorial Service for Rod will be on Saturday, January 19th at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist Church. Arrangements will be provided by Wilbraham Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., Springfield, MA 01108.
