Robert D. Rossman, Sr. was born in East Hartford, CT on October 7, 1932 and passed away on August 8, 2014 after a full life, well lived. Beloved husband of Shirley A. (Coughlin) Rossman for 62 wonderful years and dedicated father to Donna Conway and her husband Danny, Cheryl Quesnel and her late husband Raymond, Robert Rossman, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, Joseph Rossman and his wife Mary Jayne, Michael Rossman and his wife Maureen and Mary Krol and her husband Andy. Bob was most proud of his twelve wonderful grandchildren; Paul and his wife Jeanette, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Jessica, Alicia, Jordan, Jillian, Ashley, Michael Jr., Dominic, Taylor and Matthew and his three great grandchildren; Lena, Paulie and Hunter. Bob was the dedicated son of Nicholas and Mary (Christiana) Rossman, he leaves behind his brother Michael Rossman of Arizona and was predeceased by his brother Nicholas Rossman. A sincere man, he taught us through examples the qualities that are important in a person; honesty, integrity, love and passion. Whether through his work ethic, that included various jobs throughout his career beginning as early as age 12 on the tobacco fields through the time of his retirement from Hamilton Standard in 1991 after 27 years, retiring as a Cost Analyst, or his dedication to family and friends, he displayed those qualities day in and day out. Bob was also a fine athlete, making a name for himself in the area as a youth baseball player and later in life becoming an accomplished golfer and softball player with the Relics. His love for golf has been passed down to his sons and grandchildren. Perhaps the greatest measure of his life comes from the people he touched along the path. Bobs friends were many in number and he was known among them for his sense of humor. Bob especially enjoyed his time spent with close friends known as the Clubbies (and their Hubbies). They enjoyed many a night out, family picnics and group vacations. Favorite destinations of Bob were Cape Cod and Vero Beach, FL. All who knew him will sadly miss Bob but the memories of his laughter and the lessons that he taught us will last forever. Bobs family would like to thank the caring staff at the Jewish Nursing Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11th from 4:00 8:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Cecilias Church. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery, Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bobs name may be made to Alzheimers Assn., 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
