Obituary

Robert Murray, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and countless memories in the town of Ludlow, where he was born, raised, and known by so many.

Born on May 27, 1961, to William Murray and Genevieve (Grybosh) Murray, Robert grew up on Chapin Street in Ludlow and graduated from Ludlow High School in 1979. Ludlow was more than just the place he called home; it was the community where he built his life, formed lasting friendships, and became a familiar face to so many. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. He was a true jack of all trades, a man who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. There was very little he couldn't do, and he was the kind of person people could count on when something needed to be done. His strength, determination, and many talents were just a few of the qualities that made him so special.

Robert also had a heart for helping others. In honor of his beloved mother, Genevieve, whom he lost to pancreatic cancer, he started Chili for Charity, an effort to raise money for pancreatic cancer. Through this meaningful cause, he turned a personal loss into an opportunity to help others and honor his mother's memory.

Above all, Robert was a family man who held his loved ones close to his heart. He is survived by his daughter, Kaylee Rose Murray, and her husband, Donald Weichel, and his four beloved grandchildren, Donald, Dawsyn, Declan, and Mila, who brought him great love and pride. He also leaves behind his ex-wife and forever friend, Judy Shields (Morton), whose enduring friendship remained a meaningful part of his life.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, William Murray and Genevieve (Grybosh) Murray. He is survived by his siblings, Michael and his wife, Kathy; his sister, Mary; William, whose wife, Mary, predeceased him; James and his wife, Joanne; and Ann Matthews and her husband, Clark. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, along with countless friends and members of the Ludlow community who will remember him fondly.

Robert was a one-of-a-kind man with a strong spirit, a wealth of knowledge, and a personality that left a lasting impression. He was loved by so many, and his presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he called home throughout his life.

Though he is no longer with us, the stories, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will continue to keep his spirit alive in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy will live on through the people he loved, the friendships he built, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Cecilia Church located at 42 Main Street Wilbraham MA, 01095. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Rotunda to come together in love and remembrance before the service. Burial will be private and reserved for the immediate family.
