Robert A. Martin Sr.

Robert A. Martin, Sr., 74, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Fernand and Lorraine (Smyth) Martin, Robert owned and operated Martin Roofing, LLC for more than 50 years, until his retirement. From humble beginnings, he was proud to build a successful business in commercial and residential roofs, meeting people from all walks of life who respected his business savviness and remained loyal to him through the years.
After his retirement, he and his wife decided to travel in their 5th wheel. Marco/Naples Resort became their winter home where he met many French Canadian friends and learned to play Pétanque. He became a fierce competitor and enjoyed many laughs. He also loved the French board game of Tock! His love of all creatures, especially his dog Lily and cat Miley, always brought a smile to his face. He loved classic cars, trucks and boats. His sons were fortunate to have a father who celebrated all their achievements in sports by proudly attending their events.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also predeceased by his sister Dolorés Martin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Geraldine (Haley) Martin, their four devoted sons; Stephen Martin (Joanne Pesta) of Wallingford, CT, Robert Martin, Jr. of East Longmeadow, Ryan Martin of Agawam and Christopher Martin (Beth Grassette) of Killingworth, CT, seven siblings; Gaétane Martin (Jim) of Long Island, NY, Gérard Martin (Danielle) of New Brunswick, Canada, Louise Martin, Nora Martin (John) and Rolande Martin, all of Alberta, Canada, Hélène Martin of New Brunswick, Canada and Yves Martin of Quebec, Canada, four beloved grandchildren; Brayden, McKenze, Aiden and Donovan and 2 cherished great grandchildren; Bryson and Carson. Family and friends may meet for Robert’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
