Robert Lawrence Buckley, 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Boston to the late John and Julie (Buerget) Buckley, he was a graduate of Northeastern University and worked as an engineer for the US Postal Service for 17 years, retiring in 1989. He served proudly as a Marine during World War II. He was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia�s Church, where he served as extraordinary minister, lector and a member of the choir. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a charter Grand Knight of the St. Cecilia�s council, 4th Degree Knight of the Fairview Assembly and former Grand Knight of the Palmer council and was a past faithful navigator of the Archbishop Williams Assembly. Bob was a past president and former member of the Palmer Lions Club and served as a volunteer at Life Care Center of Wilbraham for 24 years and also at Wingate Nursing Home in Wilbraham. Bob leaves his devoted wife of 62 years, Edna (West) Buckley, a son Robert L. Buckley, Jr. of Springfield, two daughters; Patricia J. Buckley and her husband Daniel McLean of Naperville, IL and Elaine M. Rabbitt and her husband Kevin of Charlton, MA and grandson Sean Rabbitt. Calling hours will be held on SUNDAY, July 20th from 2:00 � 6:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Funeral will be MONDAY at 10:00 am from Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church. Burial TUESDAY at 10:00 am at MA Veterans� Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert L. Buckley Scholarship Fund, c/o Knights of Columbus, St. Cecilia�s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095 or to the Autism Resource Center, 71 Sterling St. West Boylston, MA 01583.
