Richard J. �Dick� Smith of Wilbraham, passed away Thursday, December 27, at his home, surrounded by family members. Dick was born December 3, 1936, to Francis and Leola Smith of Greenfield, the younger of two children. Richard attended Deerfield Academy prior to�serving in the US Army. After his military service, Dick embarked on a successful�career with US Envelope/MeadWestvaco Corporation, retiring as Vice President � Envelope Division. His career journey included stays in California and Indiana before relocating home to Massachusetts. Richard also served as President of Springfield�s Chamber of Commerce. Richard�s was devoted to his wife, Barbara, his family and countless friends. Active in the community, Dick was also a member of country clubs in Wilbraham, Hampden and Springfield. As he neared retirement, Dick built a family summer home in Dennis, where he graciously entertained family and friends. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; daughter Diane Nagy (Stephen); sons Darren (Laura), Jeffrey (Shelley), and Rick (Christine); ten grandchildren; and brother Charles F. Smith (Carol) of Pacific Palisades, CA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4th from 4:00 � 6:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Dick�s Funeral will be Friday at 9:00 am from Wilbraham Funeral Home to a Mass at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd., Springfield. In lieu of flowers, family members have asked that donations, in Richard's name, be made to the American Lung Assn., 393 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01105.
