Obituary
Richard T. Misiaszek, 74, passed away on November 4 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, after a brief illness. Born in Ludlow to the late Thaddeus and Stephanie (Frydryk) Misiaszek, Richard grew up in Indian Orchard and was a long-time resident of Wilbraham. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School (now Pope Francis Prep) and the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering.

Richard served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany. A civil engineer, he was employed at Stone and Webster in Boston before returning to Western MA where he retired from Rhinehart Assoc., in Agawam.

He leaves to cherish his memories his son Paul and wife Brianna, and his grandson Seth, his pride and joy, and loving step grandsons Jaxon and Braden, all of Bedford, TX, his sister Rosalie (Misiaszek) Janasiewicz and her husband Robert of Palmer, niece and godchild Lynn (Janasiewicz) Forde and husband George of Northboro, nephew John (Jack) Janasiewicz and wife Jill of North Reading, MA, great nephew Brendan Forde of South Carolina, great nieces Madison Forde of Brighton, MA, Abigail Janasiewicz and Elizabeth (Ellie) Janasiewicz of North Reading, MA and many relatives and friends.



Rick was a faithful and active communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church in Wilbraham and he was a longtime member of the Polish American Veterans Club of Wilbraham and the Knights of Columbus.




An avid golfer, he belonged to the Safari Club and was involved in rating golf courses for the U.S. Golf Association throughout Western MA.

Rick enjoyed traveling, bowling, tending to his yard and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was also an enthusiastic supporter and longtime season ticket holder of UMass basketball, football and hockey.

The family wishes to thank Father John Connors of St. Cecilia’s Church and special neighbors Ed and Jan Waniga for their help and support.



Family and friends may meet for  Richard's Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 7th at 11:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 1:00PM in MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095 or to a charity of one's choice.
