Obituary
Richard Joseph Forest, 89, of Springfield passed away on April 10th at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lowell on September 22nd, 1928. He was raised in Concord, NH and settled in Springfield in 1963. He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA. Richard retired from Collins Electric in 1995 after 32 years with the firm. He was a LTJG U.S. Navy veteran, a longtime member of Mary Mother of Hope Church in Springfield and taught CCD for years.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Sturtevant) and devoted father of 17 children: Peter, Marie Watson (Michael), Anne Senez, Richard Jr. (Mimi), David (Rose), Janet LaVallee (Alan), Linda Laux (Michael), Judy Griffin (Dan), Robert (Kate), Donna (Mick), John (Deb), Edward (Lisa), Joseph (Antoinette), Donald (Marie), Michael (Sharon), Stephen (Maureen), and Matthew (Jill). He also leaves 70 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his longtime friends, Craig and Muriel.

He loved traveling, photography and sharing stories with family and friends. Family reunions were some of his happiest moments.

The calling hours will be Thursday, April 12th, from 4-7 PM at the WILBRAHAM FUNERAL HOME, 2551 Boston Road, Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet at the Funeral Mass on Friday April 13th at 9:30 AM at the Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield. The Committal Service will follow at 11 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory may be made to Mary Mother of Hope Church.
