Raymond G. Adams, Jr., 67, of Plainfield passed away peacefully Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the VAMC in Leeds, where he lived in the CLC for the last 5 years of his life. Born in Springfield, May 6, 1950, he was the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Redin) Adams. He was a Mayflower descendant of Stephen Hopkins. Ray lived and was schooled in East Longmeadow before entering the service in 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He leaves his three sisters Marilyn A. Ziobrowski (Bill) of Russell, Janet B. Smith (Tim) of Hampden and Diane L. Longtin (Al) of Somers, CT and one brother Paul O. Adams (Lynn) of Montgomery. Also three nieces and two nephews and three great nieces and three great nephews, along with many friends. His brother Robert M. Southworth, sister-in-law Barbara A. Southworth and nephew Robert M. Southworth, Jr. predeceased him. Ray's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, CNAs, the staff and everyone there who came in contact with him at the VAMC for the care, love and affection they gave him through his last years there. Also all his friends who stopped in to visit him. Thank you. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery, Callender Ave. East Longmeadow.
