Obituary
Raffaela “Elina” (Federici) Houck, 92, passed away April 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, March 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Louis and Frances (Fiasconaro) Federici. Elina was a graduate of the Holzer Hospital School of Nursing in Ohio and worked as a registered nurse for the Baystate Medical Center, Wesson Hospital and Private Duty Nurse’s Association, and retired from the Springfield School Dept. Called by her strong faith she served as a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was a wonderful, caring and kind nurse who was also known as the “Ambassador” by her family and friends. Her beloved husband John died in 2007 and her beloved son Michael died in 2019. She leaves her loving children, Cynthia Nelson and her husband Eric of East Longmeadow, Clorinda Sticco of Agawam and Lisa Hutter and her husband Michael of Springfield, her beloved brother, Gerard Federici of Ringwood, NJ., her loving grandchildren, Philip Giammarino, Maria, Andrea and Michelle Sticco, Sarah Kopec, and Caitlin Warren, her beautiful great grandchildren, Gabriella, Jayden, Amelia and Autumn, Carl, Mila, Ruby, and Max, her brother-in-law, Kenneth Houck of East Longmeadow. She was predeceased by her sister, Josephine Houck. Elina’s funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 11AM at the St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St., Springfield with a private burial to follow at the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA. 01104.
