Obituary
Quan Van La, 60, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Kien Giang, Vietnam to the late Ket La and Sau Huynh. He immigrated to the United States in 1981, and enrolled at San Joaquin Delta Community College. In between learning English and working jobs, he was able to earn his Certificate in Electronics Technology.
He was always proud to be an American, and he never forgot his roots. He worked hard to support his family here in the States, and continued to support his family in Vietnam. He was a manicurist for over 15 years, until his retirement from Amherst Nails. He was a deeply spiritual individual, and his practice of love and compassion for others was exemplified in his many contributions as a volunteer cook for numerous homeless shelters throughout western Massachusetts.
He loved spending time with the family, whether it was taking the dogs out on hikes or family travels. He always brought a positive energy to the room, as he really enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in the evenings. When he’s not outside tending to the garden or on his stool playing the guitar, you would most likely find him in the kitchen, eagerly preparing food and looking forward to our family time at the dinner table.
He is survived by his beloved wife Anh To and their three children; James, Jennifer and Jean La, the family dogs Happy and Pepper, and his seven siblings; Hen La, Lanh La, Chuong La, Chanh La, Ut La, Doi La, and Nhi La, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Nga La. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11th from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA.
