Obituary
Longtime Wilbraham resident Philip J. DeForge, 75, died peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Care One at Redstone, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield to the late Philip DeForge, Sr. and Margaret (Sullivan) DeForge, he was a graduate of Agawam High School. He earned his Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degrees in Education from American International College, where he also played on the football team. Phil was a high school teacher at Springfield Technical High School until it closed and then Central High School for many years. He shared his passion for football coaching at West Springfield High School and Western New England College and also taught Anatomy and Physiology at Springfield Technical Community College. Phil was predeceased by his beloved wife Vicki (Williams) DeForge in 2013. He will be sadly missed by his two devoted children; Dena DeForge and her husband John Kelly of Wilbraham and Colin DeForge and his wife Sara of Agawam, his brother Mark DeForge and his wife Maggie of Agawam, cherished grandchildren; Declan and Marin Kelly as well as several nieces. Phil was also predeceased by his brother Michael DeForge. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
