Pauline G. (Napolitan) Howell

Pauline G. (Napolitan) Howell, 88 passed away Saturday December 2, 2017. Born in Springfield, June 29, 1929 she was raised in West Springfield and was the daughter of Philip A. and Matilda (Roy) Napolitan. After graduating from West Springfield High School in 1947, Pauline helped raise and provide for her struggling family by working as a dental assistant. She then found employment as a secretary and stenographer for Absorbine Junior Company, Fire Marine Insurance and Mass Mutual. Pauline then turned her attention to the Cold War effort and was accepted into service at the Springfield Armory. There she spent seven of her happiest and proudest working years in both the engineering and personnel departments until the Armory closed down. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard Howell, and found employment with Monsanto for 4 years before moving to Wilbraham in 1965. Between 1965-1970, she had three sons, was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was active in the PTO. She was also a communicant of St. Cecilia Church and was active in the Choir, Women�s Club and Senior Connection for many years. Her beloved husband, Richard C Howell died in 1994. She was also predeceased by her brothers Philip A, Jr., and Ronald R. Napolitan, her brother in law Rudolph A Stewart, and her sister in law Charlotte Lorand Napolitan. She leaves her loving sons, Richard J. of Wilbraham, Douglas P. of Memphis, TN and John P. of Arlington, VA, her beloved siblings, Donald D. Napolitan of Suffield, CT, Darlene C. Stewart of Lake Water Ranch, FL and Gail A. Taylor of Katy, TX, her sister in law Patricia J. Napolitan, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. The Funeral will be held Thursday at 9AM from the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham to a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Sr. Mary Caritas Center, 271 Carew St., P.O. Box 9012, Springfield, MA 01102 or the Springfield Rescue Mission, 10 Mill St. Springfield, MA 01108. Pauline lived as a peaceful, prayerful lady of faith, and would wish us all long life and happiness.
