Naify (Assaff) Hassin, age 90, died peacefully in Wilbraham on Friday, November 29th. Born in Medoukha, Lebanon to the late Ali Assaff and Houriya Mireeh, Naify lived in Nova Scotia, Canada and Springfield, MA before settling in Wilbraham over 50 years ago. Together with her late husband Carl Hassin, she owned and operated the Quality Market in Wilbraham for 25 years. A self-taught chef and entrepreneur, she used her drive and enviable cooking skills to transform the convenience store into a full-service delicatessen serving all of Wilbraham and beyond. An excellent hostess, her generosity, charm, and humor allowed her to connect with the entire community. Naify was the epitome of a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver. Her crowning accomplishment was raising her beloved daughters and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Naify is predeceased by her husband Carl and her daughters Amene and Lila Hassin. She is survived by her daughters Hazel Zebian, Alice Jalal, and Mary Zebian, as well as 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 4-6pm with a prayer service at 6pm on Monday, December 2 at Wilbraham Funeral Home. Interment at Hillcrest Burial Park will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Save the Children, UNICEF, and Helping Hands of America.
