Obituary
Michael W. LaPointe, 62, entered into eternal peace on January 31, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife Anna (Calvanese), sister Linda Dimetres and a few of his lifelong friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents William and Marie (Roos) LaPointe and his nephew Eric Dimetres. Memories of Michael will be cherished by his new bride Anna, sister Linda Dimetres and her husband Ed, nephew Christopher Dimetres and his wife Heather, niece Elizabeth Dimetres, stepchildren Danielle Carlin and her husband Christopher and Roger Driscoll, Jr., as well as many treasured cousins and friends. Michael had a very pleasant temperament and made friends easily. He was born in Springfield on August 4, 1958 and graduated from Putnam Vocational High School. He worked for Ahlstrom-Munksjo for many years until his retirement. Mike enjoyed long walks with his wife Anna and his best side kick Weezy. From a young age he enjoyed everything outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping or sitting by a fire with his wife and friends. He loved travelling to Las Vegas and luxury cruises that provided frequent changes of scenery. Mike’s Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 9th at 11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield followed by entombment in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum, Springfield.  An hour of visitation will precede the Mass on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to the Baystate Regional Cancer Program, c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199. The family would like to thank Baystate Hospice for their compassionate care and enabling Michael to be at home with his family and friends. And a special thank you to Laurie Anti and the entire hospice team who took exceptional care of Mike.

In keeping with state mandated Covid guidelines, visitors are required to wear a mask and practice safe, social distancing at all times.
