Obituary
Michael Patrick Brand passed away on September 4th at his home in Boulder, CO. Born in Watertown, New York, he was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 2003. He received a Bachelor in Business Administration from the former Western New England College and a B.S. in Physics from Colorado University at Boulder (CU). He moved to Boulder, Colorado in 2015. He was currently a PhD student and Research Assistant in the electrical engineering program at CU. Michael received Honorable Mention for the National Science Foundation graduate research fellowship in 2020. Michael loved learning. He was fiercely inquisitive, a voracious reader, and had a multitude of interests. He loved the beauty present in the natural world and loved his home in Colorado for its’ mountains and majestic views. He found joy and solace in music of all genres, and attended numerous concerts over the years. Most importantly, Michael had kindness and love in abundance in his heart for his family, friends, and colleagues. Michael will be deeply missed by his devoted parents Barry and Teri (Johnson) Brand of Wilbraham, beloved brothers; Timothy and his wife Sarah of Sarasota, FL and Paul and his wife Shannen of Wrentham, MA, treasured grandparents; Evelyn Brand, Janet Hunter and Paul Johnson, cherished nieces and nephew; Claudia, Aaron and Hazel, his girlfriend Molly Ketschek of Ludlow and their shared sweet dog Cybel, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael also had a broad CU and Boulder network of dear friends and colleagues. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may gather to visit and share memories prior to the Service from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home.
