Mary Ellen (Lynch) Baron, 65, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on July 20, 2015, after a heroic, 7 1/2 year battle with colon cancer. Mary Ellen was born on September 4, 1949 in Springfield, graduating in 1967 from Cathedral High School. She earned her BA in mathematics from Westfield State College in 1971 and her MA from Westfield State in 1976. Mary Ellen taught for many years in the Westfield, Monson and Springfield school systems and spent the majority of her career as a senior administrator for the Springfield Public Schools. Among her many awards, Mary Ellen earned National Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2000. The family would like to thank the staff at the D�Amour Center for Cancer Care, especially Dr. Wilson Mertens and our �guardian angel� nurse Jenn Peck. The family would also like to thank the staff at Baystate VNA and Hospice for their professional and compassionate care. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband James P. Baron, three children; Michael P. Baron and his wife Kate, Kathryn Rocha and her husband James and Dr. Matthew Baron, her mother Mary (Kennedy) Lynch, two brothers; Robert Lynch and his wife Virginia and John Lynch and his wife Lauren, four sisters; Katherine Lynch, Patricia Lynch and her husband Trigg, Maureen Burke and her husband Patrick and Eileen Cyr and her husband Bryon, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her father Robert Lynch. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24th from 4:00 � 8:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Mary Ellen�s Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Patrick�s Church in Monson. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick�s Church, 22 Green St., Monson, MA 01057 or to Heifer International, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202 or online at www.heifer.org .
