Obituary
Mary Lou O’Connor, 60, died peacefully on Monday March 29, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Patrick J and Julia J (Wonsek) O’Connor. Mary Lou attended Wilbraham schools and the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative. She worked for many years at Wilbraham & Monson Academy.
A longtime resident of Meadows Group Homes in Longmeadow, MA , Mary Lou was extremely social and readily made friends. Mary Lou was particularly fond of dancing, bowling and participating in the Special Olympics. She was predeceased by her life-long friend Mary Crimmins and leaves behind long time housemates Phil Barnhart and Sean Anderson.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her brother Terrence O’Connor and nephew Jeffrey O’Connor. She is survived by her brothers: Thomas J. O’Connor and wife Evelyn of Wilbraham and Kevin O’Connor and wife Marie of Palmer, sister Kathleen Larkin of Arizona and sister-in-law Patricia O’Connor of Wilbraham. In addition, she leaves loving nieces and nephews: Kelly Larkin, Meghan Moynihan, Sheena Piccolo and Brian O’Connor, Greg O’Connor, Nan O'Connor Roy, Sean Larkin and many grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the countless people who have supported her throughout her years. Especially the caring staff at her home in Longmeadow. Also special thanks to Michael Reardon and to the staff at Baystate Medical Center.
Family and friends may gather for Mary Lou’s Prayer Service on Monday April 5 at 11:00 am at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will be private.
