Mary (Marsella) Stewart DeCarlo, 88, died peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015, at home. She was born in Ludlow on February 5, 1927 to John and Ada (Diotalevi) Marsella, and lived most of her life in East Longmeadow. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and Bay Path Institute. She worked at the Springfield Armory during World War II and at Island Pond Mill Works for 23 years, as well as several other local businesses. She was a communicant of St. Michael�s Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister for many years, served on the Altar Society, had been a member of the Catholic Women�s Club, and was currently a member of the Senior Center Friendship Club. She also volunteered for many years at a local nursing home where she was popularly known as the �Bingo Lady.� Mary was an avid reader of novels and interested in history, music, walking and sports. Mary and her family enjoyed the many summer vacations on Cape Cod and the many Elderhostel trips from coast to coast. She was predeceased by her first husband George Stewart in 1955, and by her son Christopher DeCarlo who passed away in November 2010. Mary leaves her husband of 48 years Joseph DeCarlo, her son Thomas J. Stewart and his wife Gerry of Springfield, her sisters; Helen Garrow and her husband David of Ludlow and Joanne Mason and her husband Larry of North Carolina, her brother Louis Marsella and his wife Alicia of Nevada, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 23rd from 4-7pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Mary�s Liturgy of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10am at St. Michael�s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Burial will follow in St. Michael�s Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial contributions in Mary�s name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Michael�s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
