Marion E. (Connor) Woods Hansen, 86, died peacefully on May 31, surrounded by her loving family at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. A daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel (Sergeant) Connor, she was born in Northampton and lived most of her life in Springfield and Longmeadow. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Woods, in 1977, and by her sister Marjorie in 1999. Marion worked as an engineer at New England Telephone for many years, and following her retirement, became a licensed minister in the United Church of Christ. In that capacity, she served as an ecumenical hospital chaplain at Hartford Hospital and Baystate Medical Center, and provided ministry at several local Congregational churches. She was a past board member of the Engineering Society of Western Massachusetts, the Council of Churches of Greater Springfield, the Salvation Army, and the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services Citizen Advisory Board. Marion was a longtime member of Springfield�s Old First Church, where she served on its Board of World Service and Advisory Council, and sang in the choir. She was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, and excellent cook. Marion will be greatly missed by her family, including her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Stephen Saunders of Wilbraham, son James Woods of Wilbraham, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Sarah and James O�Connor, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law Shane and Alena Saunders. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday. June 5th at 10:00 am at Brookside Cemetery, 43 Williston Ave., Easthampton. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
